About Us
HM Family Farm is managed by Henco Barnard and his wife Mary. The primary farming activities are macadamia nuts and essential oils which cover approximately 340 hectares of agricultural land. Henco and Mary also manage the cracking and processing facility on the farm where the macadamia nuts are cracked, washed, dried, hand sorted and packed. Henco and Mary joined the family business in 2019 and so enjoy learning and working alongside Mary’s siblings and father, Eric Dunstone.
In 1975, Henco’s father-in-law, Eric, started farming in Oribi Gorge, KwaZulu Natal, South Africa. During those early years, sugarcane and tomatoes were the main crops. Eric Dunstone managed to grow his agricultural enterprise significantly and overcame many challenges, such as droughts, floods and economical and political instability. Hard work, integrity and respect for the surrounding community and the natural environment have always been key to his success.
HM Family Farm employes approximately 35 permanent staff members on their farm which is a significant contribution to the upliftment of the local economy where jobs are scarce.
